This handout is intended primarily for all first-year students in the core technical sciences, material sciences, exact sciences, etc. It carries the fundamental and necessary notions of thermodynamics, in order to offer the student a solid base for learning thermodynamics with a view to applications to combustion and thermal machines. It has three chapters, the first chapter deals with general knowledge of thermodynamics and corrected exercises. The second chapter is described the relations between mechanical phenomena and calorific phenomena and the heats (energies) of the reaction relating to the first law of thermodynamics and as well as corrected exercises to help the best comprehension. The third chapter is devoted to the entropy of reaction, the free enthalpy (Gibbs relation) relating to the second principle of thermodynamics, chemical equilibriums (Le Chatelier's law, Van't Hoff's relation) and as well as corrected exercises.
